After a rough start for the 3DS, Nintendo has announced a surprise price drop in their newest handheld. The new price of the 3DS will be $169.99, which is a far cry from the original $249.99 launch price.

Well, talk about a shocking announcement from a company who's handheld has been criticized for its price, battery life, and software lineup.

The price drop will become effective by August 12, while early adopters have until 11:59 PM on August 11 to register with the Nintendo eShop to be eligible for their "Ambassador" award. What's the award you ask? Well, early adopters of the 3DS will receive 20 free downloadable games from the Nintendo eShop. These downloadable games will be 10 NES and 10 GBA titles; however, the GBA games have not been confirmed for future release beyond their exclusivity with early 3DS adopters.

Now, the question that everyone will be asking: What does this mean for Sony's PS Vita? Will Sony react with a change in release or go through with their plans? All that's for certain is that Nintendo is making the right moves to help the world realize that the 3DS does exist.

Capcom hasn't been on our good side during the last 48 hours (re: the cancellation of Mega Man Legends 3), but they're doing their best to make us forgive them. Today, Capcom announced Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, which will be a new edition of the original that includes 12 new fighters.

The new characters include Ghost Rider, Hawkeye, Ghost 'n Goblins villain Firebrand, and MvC 2 fan-favorite, Strider. Capcom has stated that they unveil more characters in the months leading up to the game's November release. In addition, new features include a Spectator Mode, which allows players to watch matches online, eight new stages, along with some tweaks to the gameplay. Hopefully this will cease some minor complaints that have been uttered --for some strange reason-- in Gameshoe's direction.

Hit the jump to watch the Character Overview Trailer to get a glimpse of the new characters joining Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

Forget the hook shot. Link prefers a portal gun

Ever wonder what it would be like if Link was able to toy around with a portal gun? Of course you have. I myself constantly think about how awesome certain games would be if they did cross-overs like the one shown above. I certainly hope Nintendo is taking notes...or doing their best to convince Gabe Newell and the rest of Valve how cool this would be.
