Well, talk about a shocking announcement from a company who's handheld has been criticized for its price, battery life, and software lineup.
The price drop will become effective by August 12, while early adopters have until 11:59 PM on August 11 to register with the Nintendo eShop to be eligible for their "Ambassador" award. What's the award you ask? Well, early adopters of the 3DS will receive 20 free downloadable games from the Nintendo eShop. These downloadable games will be 10 NES and 10 GBA titles; however, the GBA games have not been confirmed for future release beyond their exclusivity with early 3DS adopters.
Now, the question that everyone will be asking: What does this mean for Sony's PS Vita? Will Sony react with a change in release or go through with their plans? All that's for certain is that Nintendo is making the right moves to help the world realize that the 3DS does exist.
