It is also his first game under Platinum games, which is known for both the Okami and Bayonetta series. Vanquish is a high octane action-shooter that has the player control a chain-smoking government agent equipped with a prototype armor that allows him to move extremely fast and enhance his reaction time. Basically, you’re dodging bullets, jumping from cover to cover and slowing down time to better kick your enemy’s butts into next week. The demo’s tutorial actually serves as a prequel to the game, getting gamers read for some crazy action later in October.

(Posted by: Tyler Piantanida) ![]() Do you like being a Hero? Are you a fan of Justice? Have you ever called the local Taco Bell cashier “Taco Wench”? Then Deathspank: Thongs of Virtue could be the game for you! Recently announced as the sequel to the original Deathspank, which was released this past July by Hothead Studios, is going to be what the developer hopes to be a much larger game. Yet instead of working with the creators of Penny-Arcade, they made the original Deathspank with Ron Gilbert who is famous for the original Monkey Island series. The game centers on the heroic and oftentimes obliviousDeathspank as he travels around his fantasy-esque world going on quests for justice, and doing other things on his list of “Non important things I need to do”. One of Gilbert’s main additions to the video game genre was humor in his games. This is no different in Deathspank. The first offering gave gamers a Diablo like experience with a top down view yet focusing on action and humor. Thongs of Virtue “will have more adventure and puzzle questing in this game, but the hack and slash remains,” say the developers. Hothead Studios also hopes to make it a much larger game, and obviously add new features. One of the largest additions I noticed is one that gamers can only enjoy: Guns. With the Deathspank series having a tongue in cheek sense of humor, the developers obviously don’t need a good reason why this fantasy universe has access to guns. The first game was a great experience for DLC price, and even though most saw it as a good time waster, I found it to be a full experience with a lot of great humor which can be really hard to find in games today. Deathspank: Thongs of Virtue will be released on the Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade for $15 or 1200 Points for the latter. Hothead Studios says it should be available sometime in September. (Posted by: Harrison Milfeld) ![]() The next entry in the cult-classic Golden Sun series, Golden Sun: Dark Dawn will be released on November 29 for the Nintendo DS. This news comes a few weeks after Nintendo showcased their upcoming release schedule, with Dark Dawn mysteriously absent. Rumors were rampant about the game's further delay into 2011 or less-than-likely cancellation. Rest assured, the series that started on the Game Boy Advance now has a solid release date for all of us to drool over as it approaches. The game's story takes place 30 years after the events of the first two Golden Sun games, and follows a new groups of heroes who have to save the changed world. It will feature all of the conventions of the earlier games, with magical Djinns that can help you inside and outside of battle. So, if any of you have a copy of Golden Sun or Golden Sun: The Lost Age for the GBA, please send copies to the Gameshoe staff. We misplaced our copies and we're just itching to replay some great RPG shenanigans from Camelot and Nintendo. (Posted by: Harrison Milfeld) ![]() According to a post from Major Nelson, Microsoft will increase Xbox Live's subscription price in North America for the first time since the service's inception in 2002. Starting November 1, a Gold membership will be priced at $59.99 as opposed to the service's previous price point of $49.99. For those who pay in monthly installments (like my financially-deprived self), subscriptions will jump from $7.99 o $9.99, while three month subscriptions will increase from $19.99 to $24.99. North America regions will not be the only ones to see a price increase for the popular online service. In the UK, the price of one month will jump from 4.99 GPB to 5.99 GBP. Canada's monthly subscriptions will rise a dollar to $9.99 and Mexico's rises from 499 pesos to 599 pesos. With the price increase two months away, Microsoft will offer a special deal for U.S. customers, allowing them to lock in a year at $39.99, $20 less than the new rate. Whether or not an increase will bode well with consumers, the use of additional features such as Last.fm, Facebook, Twitter, Netflix, Video Kinect and ESPN 3 seems to be the driving point of the jump in price. ![]() It's the return of the Gameshoe Podcast. (Posted by: Ryan Clark) ![]() The new Zelda game will be a Wii exclusive for early 2011. Nintendo has decided in their infinite wisdom that we have not bled enough green for them, and Skyward Sword will be a Wii Motion Plus exclusive. But don't worry fellow Zelda fans, the Motion Plus ups the accuracy of the Wii-mote to 95%. I'm truly looking forward to mastering the well known and feared Wii-Seizure style of swordsmanship. Finally, TLOZ:SS will have a stronger focus on swordplay, including blocks, counters, and enemies that will engage Link in complex strategic combat. (Posted by: Ryan Clark) ![]() COD: Black Ops will be coming out this November 9. From the preview it sounds like Treyarch is trying to emulate their counterpart Infinity Ward in their new installment of the ever loved Call of Duty series. Treyarch will have the protagonist mimic the British S.A.S.'s role in MW2 as a member of a special ops team assigned behind enemy lines in Vietnam. This will be their first game that is placed past WWII. And for those to whom it may concern, yes there will be zombies in Black Ops.... because zombies were pivotal in the Vietnam War.
