The guys talk about a whole bunch of new games. Donkey Kong, Gran Turismo, Assassin's Creed and the new content for WOW. There's also a mercifully short new releases list, and an Eastern European country is briefly slandered. Which one will it be? Find out this week on The Gameshoe Podcast!

(Posted By: Eric Rees) We were kicking around a few ideas on the Podcast last night, not that you would know; Alex "Soup Nazi" Deckard won't let you listen until tomorrow at some odd hour of the day. One of the things we discussed was the comparisons between Microsoft's Kinect and Sony's Move systems. I commented that Kinect has a lot more upside as far as the technology goes and that down the road some very interesting and fun things could surface. Readers, I present to you my evidence for my claim. Youtube user Yankeyan decided to celebrate 25 years of Mario by giving the double finger to Microsoft; first by hacking their brand new piece of hardware, then making it play a direct competitor's video game. I love it. He programmed the system to recognize his movements and ported them to the buttons of his NES emulator, not the easiest controls in the world as the video shows but it looks awesome right? Yankeyan gets the Gameshoe seal of approval for overall awesomeness in the area of "sticking it to the man." Jade Raymond has confirmed that her and 83 of her closest buddies are working on what will be the 6 iteration in the Splinter Cell series. Raymond may be a recognizable name for her work on the Assassin's Creed series, another series that is doing quite well, so it's not surprising to her resurfacing for this announcement. Anyone excited for this? Splinter Cell Conviction got some good ratings. (Posted By: Eric Rees) No surprise here but Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is selling; and selling really well, especially in England. Like 1 million copies in a week. May sound like chump change to people around here but that's still a million video games. In an interview with Geoffory Sardin, chief of marketing and sales at Ubisoft, he said the Assassin's Creed games have sold in excess of 20 million games. Which is good but what he said next was the interesting bit, hit the break to read more. While promoting his latest film, The Fighter, actor Mark Wahlberg confirmed that he would be playing Nathan Drake in David O. Russell's adaptation of Uncharted. For those keeping track, this will be Marky Mark's second attempt at portraying a popular video game character, with his first foray being in the disappointing Max Payne adaptation. According to IGN, Wahlberg did not offer any further information aside from that he "will do whatever the director wants him to when it comes to Uncharted." Surprisingly, Wahlberg mentioned that actors Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci are attached to the project; however, this has yet to be officially confirmed by Russell or the studio behind the Uncharted film. No word yet on when production will start, but so far this is biggest casting note from the film. What do you all say about David O. Russell casting Mark Wahlberg as Nathan Drake? Pass or fail? Valve announced yesterday that they have delayed Portal 2, their much-anticiated first-person shooter puzzler for the Xbox 360, PS3 and the PC, to April 18, 2011. This news comes a few months after Valve delayed the Portal 2 from its original November 2010 release to February 2011. The delay itself is reasonable given the game's surprising slip from the upcoming holiday season. Valve themselves have joked about the delay in general stating, "This two month slip not only marks the shortest delay in Valve's proud tradition of deltas, it represents the approaching convergence of Valve Time and Real Time. Though this convergence spells doom for humanity, it will not affect the new Portal 2 release date." So, it's quite logical to say that Half-Life 2: Episode 3 exists in Valve Time, which gives many fans hope. Still, even if these dimensions fought over space and time, it would still mean that Portal 2 will find a way on store shelves. Brilliant, Valve. Just brilliant. Okamiden picks up nine months after the original storyline and follows the sun god Chibiterasu, essentially a miniaturized version of Amaterasu (Okami’s canine protagonist), as well as the children of other Okami characters. The game is all about using your divine powers and Celestial Brush to restore beauty to the land plagued by darkness. Along the way you help various villages, travelers and even fellow animals. A new feature for this sequel is the ability to team up with other characters on your adventure. Read more after the break! The guys talk about Black Ops, Black Ops, and Black Ops. There's also some Donkey Kong in there, as well as some Kinect, but you don't care about that. You care about Black Ops, and we've got it for you on The Gameshoe Podcast! (Posted by: Eric Rees) I'm sure this news will be good on the ears of anyone who has beaten the storyline in Fallout: New Vegas. Bethesda's latest iteration of the series is going to go the route that Fallout 3 did and offer lots of good DLC down the road but the first pack, called Blood Money, will be a Xbox 360 exclusive. The pack releases on December 21 to the tune of 800 Microsoft points, or ten dollars for those of you who live in the real world with your real money. The description released today said that the DLC "has platers working alongside three other captured wastelanders to recover the treasure of the Sierra Madre Casino. Sounds like fun to me. If the pack is going to be anything like the amazing ones that were released for Fallout 3 I'll be on this the second it comes out. There is talk of new terrain, foes and choices. I doubt this one will continue the main storyline, those who have beaten the game know what I'm talking about, but it'll be fun nonetheless. Mark your calendars. |
