(Posted by: Harrison) As we wait patiently for Nintendo to join the rest of the console world in the realm of HD gaming, a little gizmo could help us non-HD Wii owners. A company by the name of VDIGI will be offering a sweet little device that will bring your Wii into the glory that is 1080p. The device is called the VD-W3 Wii HDMI Upscaler and it's currently a hot-seller among Wii owners who desire high definition gaming. The catch though: it'll cost you about $75 just to get your grubby hands on this little puppy. Does it work? Well, it's hard to tell if a single converter could solve Wii owners HD problems, so I'll remain skeptical until I have one. It is a step in the right direction for an HD future on a Nintendo console.

This mod even includes sound so you can hear the eerie "eehhh oooos" as they hungrily shuffle toward you. Check it out and turn up the sound! It really makes the atmosphere super-creepy!

The BioWare Bazaar is an auction of sorts which will take place starting April 6th. It will include a whole lot of goodies (Around $62,000 worth) which BioWare must have found in the back of its storage unit. This includes games, gear, apparel and more (most of it BioWare branded). The catch is that participants will not bid using real money, they will have to use tokens earned through taking part in a variety of different challenges issued by Bioware. (For example: answering questions on the BioWare Twitter page.) The whole thing is kind of...... bizarre (sorry, I couldn't resist), but you have about a week to collect some tokens and take part in the auction. Good luck! Rare announced today on its twitter page that an update would be available next month which would fix a few bugs and add a couple of new game modes. This update will fix the "Tools of the Trade" achievement allowing players to receive points. Also legacy and southpaw controls are being added along with the ability to swap triggers. Aim sensitivity bars will be added and a "Hardcore" mode (no radar or auto-aim) will be added to both solo and team playlists. No specific date was given for the update, but it will be sometime in April. You might remember IO from such titles as Hitman and Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days. "We are sorry to have to say goodbye to employees, but it is a natural process when working in a project organization," said general manager Niels Jorgensen Last week's layoffs aren't expected to affect long-term plans for the studio or for it's parent company, Square-Enix, who acquired the studio after IO's previous owner, Eidos Interactive, was sold. There are no specifics available about the number of people let go, but Square-Enix issued IGN this statement: Every studio has to take decisions to ensure it is operating effectively as projects start up and ramp down. IO Interactive has assessed the internal and external resources needed to support its pipeline and this has led to organizational changes which will include the loss of some roles at the studio. We believe that this decision will make IO continue to deliver great games and add momentum to our operations. We would like to thank all employees affected for their contribution and efforts and wish them well in their future careers. If you bought a PS3 Slim, or even if you didn't, you might have noticed it's missing the "Install Other OS" option available to users of the older version of the console. This was our first clue that Sony might soon disable the ability to run Linux on all PS3 consoles. Yesterday Sony announced on the Official Playstation Blog that in the newest PS3 firmware update (v.3.21) which releases April 1, Sony will remove the ability to install an alternate operating system for "security reasons." If you are currently using this feature on your PS3, you can choose not to download the update, however you will also lose access to everything on PSN, you won't be able to playback Blu-Ray discs which require firmware 3.21 or greater, or use any new features available in the future. So you're pretty much boned. We haven't heard much about this feature causing any problems with Piracy or other security issues on the PS3, but Sony must be concerned about something right? Why else would they put out an update that REMOVES a feature. Maybe it's an April fools joke? After having countless difficulties with our previous audio host, we've decided to switch to a new one. This did however require a switch in RSS feeds which means in short that you need to subscribe to the new feed via iTunes. You can do that here.
Through the apple store, the new podcast feed is called "The Gameshoe Podcast" as oppose to "Gameshoe Podcast." The duplicate should be taken care of soon. Thank you for being patient with us while we worked out the kinks! (Posted by: Kyle) If you've been listening to the podcast, you know how excited I am about this map pack! It may make my MW2 addiction even worse, but so be it. These maps look awesome!
(Posted by: Harrison) A lucky few Netflix users are slated to receive their Wii Netflix instant streaming discs in the next couple of days (Friday is the possible date). Several news outlets and blog have reported that they have received a confirmation e-mail about the discs pending arrival. Netflix's appearance on the Wii was once a long-shot rumor, until the company announced their support for the console in January. Well, considering how all three major consoles are now Netflix-enabled, will the online movie rental giant share the love with the DS? Sure, it may not tickle your funny bone immediately, but this series of comics are a riot. Check out more Bears of War hijinks here. Happy hunting.
