Anyone who is tired of SpikeTV's sad excuse for a video game awards show might have a reason to be excited! On Thursday, the Independent Film Channel will stream from its website, live and in its entirety, the 13th annual Interactive Achievement Awards. The show will begin at 10 p.m. U.S. Eastern/7 p.m. Pacific. Also a condensed, half-hour highlight show will be broadcast on IFC on Friday, Feb. 26 at 10 p.m. This is technically not a live broadcast but better than last year's attempt (last year's show was broadcast two months after it occurred).
Jay Mohr will be the evening's host, while the top nominees, Uncharted 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Assassin's Creed 2 will be competing for this year's game of the year award. All in all, IFC has a nice programming event to show off to those who would like to see how the AIAS is marketed. Hopefully, in the near future it's not commercialized too much.
