According to the press release, Activision will have the worldwide rights for publishing and distribution, while Bungie will remain and independent company and will continue to own their intellectual property. This means that Activision will get publishing rights to one IP on multiple platforms, and it doe snot mean Bungie is part of Activision.
Bungie, currently working of Halo: Reach for the Xbox 360, says that this partnership because of Activision's "global reach and multi-platform experience."
"From working together over the past nine months on this agreement, it is clear that Activision supports our commitment to giving our fans the best possible gaming experiences," says Harold Ryan, President of Bungie in the official release.
A few hours after the press release, a team of developers have already begun "laying the groundwork" for the new game players can expect as a part of the Activision partnership.
With the Halo: Reach beta around the corner, the partnership with Activision should allow for some surprising moments at E3 2010. Let's hope this partnership proves to be hugely successful and not just an unholy alliance.
