Capcom takes a step forward, and a step back

In this picture Capcom is Ryu and I am Fei Long. The past couple of days, our dear beloved Capcom has done some interesting things.

Good things first. Capcom has announced that they will be coming out with DLC for Super Street Fighter IV, the Arcade Edition. This edition adds four characters; Evil Ryu, a new character Oni and the brothers Yun and Yang. It adds an Elite Channel that lets people watch matches of really really good players and you can now follow up to five users of your choice who post replays regularly. The DLC is going to be out on June 7 and will be $15 for the 360, PS3 and even now the PC. This is the good.

Now for the bad. Capcom came out today, in a tweet from Capcom Europe that reads: "MvC3 is out, done and dusted, no further announcements planned." Remember all the new modes and fighting systems that SSF4 had that we just talked about? Remember how they aren't in MvC3? And they won't be put back in? I'm completely dumbfounded by this. It's a complete step backwards in my opinion taking away abilities in earlier games and not implementing them in older ones.

On top of the heartbreaking news of no new characters, the fact that they won't fix the fact that I can't watch matches online as they're happening (an ability I had access to in MvC2 when it was released for download on Xbox Live) is frankly just stupid. I really hope that Capcom comes out and takes this down, but I've seen much worse things happen in the gaming world.
