On March 4, 2000, the video game world witnessed the release of the much-anticipated Playstation 2; the video game world was never the same. Sure, the launch lineup wasn't spectacular by any means (Fantavision, anyone?), but over the console's lifespan, we were treated to a lot of great memories. Now, after ten years, the PS2 is still alive and kicking. To this date, publishers continue to release games for the decade-old console, which is an astonishing feat.
After launching worldwide, the PS2 has sold more than 140 million units (the Nintendo DS is the closest with 125.13 million units). With numbers like that, it's obvious why the PS2 is the best-selling home console to date. So, without further ado, we here at Gameshoe would like to wish a Happy 10th Birthday to you PS2. Do yourself a favor, gamers, and plop in your favorite PS2 game and honor its legacy.
