While a game rework of the movie’s plot would certainly be entertaining enough to play through, Nolan isn’t necessarily limiting the plot lines of his game to those laid down in the film. “[I have] always imagined Inception to be a world where a lot of other stories could take place.” This could mean the production team introduction a completely new story and set of characters into the Inception-verse altogether.
Though the game does have a committed team working on its development, Nolan is (as always) being extremely tight with details. One of the admissions he has given however, is that him and his production team, “…are looking at developing a videogame based on the world of the film, which has all kinds of ideas that you can't fit into a feature film.” Although sometimes cryptically vague with details, Nolan has proven time and again that the wait for his projects is well worth the reward.
How long of a wait are we looking at? "[The Inception game] is something we've been talking about and are looking at doing long term, in a couple of years," says Nolan. As soon as more information about this project is released, we’ll be sure to cover it; but for now, we’ll have to settle for the Inception DVD that went on sale today.
