First person shooter fans, rejoice! One of the fathers of the modern FPS will be receiving some gratitude for his hard work on the genre during the 1990s. id Software co-founder, John Carmack, will be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2010 Game Developers Choice Awards on March 11th. During the ceremony, former Lifetime Achievement Award winner Will Wright will then present the award to Carmack.
Carmack is best known for being the lead programmer for id Software titles, such as Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Quake and all of their respective sequels. Aside from his innovations in 3D graphics in FPS titles, Carmack also is a rocketry enthusiast and the founder for Armadillo Aerospace. Quite the resume Mr. Carmack has, folks. A hall of fame career that Carmack has worked diligently on deserves this type of recognition. We salute you.
