Lead Designer on Company of Heroes Online Brian R. Wood was tragically killed in a traffic accident last Friday. There was evidence of drug use in the vehicle that killed Brian. On the bright side, he was able to sacrifice his own life to save the lives of his wife and his unborn child. Instead of the car being hit full on, he was able to position the car so he would take the blow. “… (Brian) braked really hard and turned right so that he would be put in the path of the SUV and not me and the baby, and that is the only thing that saved us both.” His wife only suffered a non-life threating head injury, and the baby is still on its way to being born somewhere around November 5th. The surviving family is not mad at the seemingly intoxicated drivers, only saddened by the event as a whole. Personally, I love the Company of Heroes series. Both single player and multiplayer modes are near to perfection as RTS games come. His is a soul that will truly be missed, hopefully remembered by gamers around the world. The newest release from his team was Company of Heroes Online, which is free to U.S players who register online.
