After a decade of demand from fans, Capcom has announced a third iteration to the hugely popular Marvel vs. Capcom series. Titled, Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, the game was secretly announced by Capcom last week at Captivate 2010. Not a single soul outside the event knew about the game existence; it was only thought to be a rumor. Well, the wait is over. Fans of the vastly deep Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes (which is now one of the best selling XBLA titles to this date), will get their chance to pit Wolverine, Spider-Man, Hulk, Iron Man and other Marvel heroes against various Capcom characters.
The trailer above showed off the usual Marvel and Capcom mainstays like Hulk and Ryu, but the end surprised us with an appearance by Resident Evil's Chris Redfield. Capcom has not mentioned any new characters that will join the fight, but rest assured that we'll have our fingers crossed for Deadpool, X, and even Viewtiful Joe. The company did state that fans will be store for "the most epic fighting gamer ever developed." The game is slated for release on the Xbox 360 and PS3 for 2011 and will be built using the MT Framework engine, which powered Lost Planet 2.
