It's definitely a possibility! In a recent interview with MTV, Mass Effect project director Casey Hudson stated:
"...we have a tremendous amount of interest from people in Hollywood to make a major motion picture about Mass Effect. The most important thing for us is, we don't just want to see a movie get made ... we want to see a great movie get made, if it's going to get done at all."
Although video game movies have been pretty sub-par as a rule, I REALLY hope that this could be the exception. Mass Effect is one of my favorite games of all time. I think it has strong characters who exist in a rich universe that could really shine on the silver screen. If they could get Drew Karpyshyn and the rest of the Mass Effect writers to pen a script; then maybe, just maybe, we could see a game-based movie that didn't suck.
