For those of you who had the energy to stay up at the wee hours of the night, you were treated to some big announcements regarding Nintendo's next money-printing machine, the 3DS. During the Nintendo Conference held at Tokyo, Japan, the company first delved into a few unanswered questions regarding the Wiimote. That is, a Gamestop listing that showed Wii Motion Plus imbedded into the controller isn't just a ruse, rather it will be the standard Wiimote here on out. Although, the main course of this presentation was --of course-- the Nintendo 3DS. Nintendo laid out all sorts of specifics on the handheld, which they're dubbing "a true portable console." The handheld will launch in Japan on February 26, 2011.There were no details about the exact U.S. and Europe release date for the 3DS, but Nintendo of Europe confirmed that it would be out by March 2011.

- The unit will cost 25,000 yen, which translates to $300, but we may see a lower price in the U.S.
- The system will be available in Aqua Blue and Cosmo Black.
- Mii-integration: The 3DS camera will customize a Mii straight from a photo of yourself.
- Game Boy and Game Boy Color virtual console support (the most surprising news in my humble opinion.)
