Seven45 Studios recently announced a very ambitious new music game; Power Gig: The Rise of the Sixstring. What’s ambitious about it you say? Well beyond trying to compete with Harmonix and Activision in a market full of consumers who are tiring of music games, Power Gig features a real guitar controller with six strings, and even the ability to hook it up to an amp! Looking at the picture above, the only thing that might give away the fact that it’s a game controller are the colored bars running down the neck. Even though I long ago retired the rest of my music peripherals to storage, I’m definitely excited about the possibility of a guitar game that actually….GASP…. teaches me how to play! It addresses the number one criticism that many real musicians have of the guitar hero franchise.
