Despite a cumulative score of 38 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time managed to become the highest-grossing video game film ever. As of June 22, Prince of Persia has made $82,716,037 domestically, (which Disney finds to be a financial disappointment) but with international grosses, its total stands at $295,816,037. With a box-office gross of almost $300 million, the film surpasses the previous record holder, Laura Croft: Tomb Raider, which bowed out at $274 million in 2001. Prince of Persia may have been panned by critics during its release, but this gives producer Jerry Bruckheimer enough bragging rights to warrant a sequel. Just one note, Mr. Bruckheimer: Please, don't go too much overboard with the next film; the script was lacking the first time around.
