As the excitement builds for the latest installment of the “Call of Duty” franchise, many fans will be attending release parties, eager to be the first to lay hands on a copy of the highly anticipated FPS game.

Two Baltimore men that refused to wait until the game’s launch decided to hold their own “Black Ops” release party Saturday night—complete with semi-automatic weapons and tactical clothing.

The pair of robbers—brandishing their pistols—burst into the Bel Air GameStop location on Saturday night, minutes before the store was to close. Both employees, and two unlucky customers, were forced into a storage area in the back of the store at gunpoint while the burglars amassed four full cases of “Black Ops,”—over 100 copies—as well as several gaming systems and an undisclosed amount of cash from the register. Thankfully nary a shot was fired in the robbery, nor did the patrons or employees sustain any injuries.

With over $6000 in games and consoles in their keep, the thieves escaped into the night in a late-model white minivan—hardly an urban tactical vehicle worthy of Black Ops employ, but effective enough nonetheless.

“Black Ops,” which is set for a released on the 9th, is already far surpassing the pre-order numbers Modern Warfare 2, which debuted around the same time last year, and grossed over $1 billion by January. This newest CoD game is projected put up numbers similar to that of its predecessor, making it one of the highest grossing games of all time; it is no wonder why these thieves were so eager to get copies of it.

Police are asking anyone that is offered a copy of the game prior to the midnight release to immediately report it to the sheriff’s department, however I suspect they will be too engrossed with the campaign to worry too much about where the copy was obtained from.
