High-definition ports of older console titles have become the norm this generation, but more and more are beginning to appear as downloadable titles. To continue with this trend, Capcom announced that the North American release of Resident Evil: Revival Selection will be available on Xbox Live Arcade and PSN, instead of a bundled release (re: Japan). This collection will include both the award-winning (and the heavily ported) Resident Evil 4 and the widely popular Code Veronica. The idea of releasing both of these Resident Evil titles as downloadable titles makes for a great convenience. It would allow Capcom to cut down production costs from bundling them as a physical release; plus, there’s a possibility both will be offered at a cheap price online. So, it’s win-win for all.
Capcom did not state any further information regarding what extras the collection will include, nor a solid release date, but one can expect a plethora of achievements and trophies one to obsess over. Until then, does this mean a possible HD revival of more Resident Evil games of years past? One can only hope.
