Last night while watching the Oscars and enjoying the finest box of wine available in my refrigerator, I saw an advertisement for Samsung’s new line 3D LCD televisions. I checked out the website and these things are EXPENSIVE! A 46 inch TV costs around $2800! I hope all you early adopters out there enough wallet for it!
I have to say, I’m not terribly excited about 3D technology. Firstly, I already wear glasses to see. So now I have to wear glasses over my glasses? Like I’m not already the biggest dork in the movie theatre. Secondly, if this becomes the new standard for TV, what am I supposed to do with my brand new non-3D LCD? Lastly, will games start moving toward 3D support? There are a few that support it already (Bad Company 2, Metro). I imagine if the future of gaming lies in three dimensions, we’ll hear a lot more about it come E3 in June.
