Here at Gameshoe, we don't necessarily take pride in watching video game movies; we roll our eyes at the mere sight of them. We've seen the decently good adaptations (Mortal Kombat) and the painstakingly terrible ones (anything by Uwe Boll), but there could be hope this May. Walt Disney Pictures recently released the second trailer for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (an adaptation of the famed series created by Jordan Mechner).
The trailer has the usual Bruckheimer niches: CG-heavy scenery, slow-motion, ominous villains and star-studded protagonists such as Jake Gyllenhaal as the Prince. Oh and by the way, the film has a reported budget of $150 million. If all goes according to plan for the filmmakers, we could see this gamble as a sure-fire box-office hit. The film will open on May 28, 2010.
