As the release of Sonic 4: Episode One approaches, Sega has decided to bring more to Sonic's possible revival with Sonic Colors for the Wii and DS. In the Sonic Colors trailer, which you can see here, we see our favorite blue hedgehog speeding through a theme-park like area. As Sonic speeds through the colorful worlds, he attempts to rescue these whimsical alien Whips from the clucthes of Dr. Eggman. Eggman's plan is to harness the energy of these creatures as he controls them in his amusement park orbiter. When will Eggman's plan to capture cutesy creatures end?
According to the press release, Sonic will be able to use these alien's color energy to create new paths through each of the game's levels. For instance, yellow energy will let Sonic drill through the ground, whereas cyan turns Sonic into a laser (yes, Sonic shooting lasers at long last). The Wii version will be a combination of 2D and 3D gameplay, while the DS version will tackle the handheld's dual screen capabilities. The game is scheduled to ship by the end of 2010 according to Sega.
