Sure, it's only the day after the big three console makers flexed their tech muscles, but that doesn't mean Konami can tout its upcoming titles. One game that's sure to get fans excited is the announcement of the tentatively-titled Silent Hill 8, which will be developed by Vatra Games. The game will release simultaneously for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011, with no further details (aside from a quick teaser) being discussed. The teaser showed off the game's new protagonist, Murphy Pendleton, a convict who escapes after his prison transport crashes in the woods. Sooner than you can say, "Pyramid Head," Pendleton finds himself in the not-so-pleasant town of Silent Hill.

Judging by Pendleton's use of glass bottles and wooden chairs, the emphasis of combat will be more focused on everyday household items. As usual, the spooky atmosphere and creepy flashlight-enabled adventuring are still intact, but more changes are in store. For example, longtime series composer Akira Yamoka, who resigned from Konami in 2009, will be replaced by veteran Daniel Licht. His previous work includes composing music for Hellraiser, Children of the Corn, and the popular TV show, Dexter.

President of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc, Shinji Hirano stated, "In honoring the rich history and strong following of Silent Hill, we're working hard to build a next generation horror game that the fans truly deserve." Hirano also went on the record to say that Silent Hill 8 will introduce new evolutions to the established gameplay, while building on the success of what has made the series a "true innovator in survival horror and terror." The Silent Hill series hasn't seen a huge reimagining in some time, but here's hope to a fresh take on a franchise that's in dire need of some adrenaline.

To prepare, we would wake up around 6AM to go to the park. Usually it was very foggy. We had a simply routine which basically involved me shooting the basketball a couple of hundred times where he would retrieve the ball for me every time.
