With two weeks remaining until the Nintendo 3DS launches in North America, one would expect an onslaught of marketing dedicated to the device. We waited and waited, until yesterday, when Nintendo released a 30-second TV spot for the 3DS; the television spot for the handheld is also the first to hit North America. The commercial showcases the glasses-free 3D effects of the device alongside some footage of launch titles, such as Steel Diver and Street Fighter IV (complete with Ryu’s trademark Hadouken for good measure). In addition, we are shown the possibilities with the 3DS’ use of augmented-reality-specific games. So, in many ways, the first 3DS commercial in North America is as short as it is sweet.
Also, for those who have finally decided to plop down their cash for the 3DS, I suggest start saving those pennies…and fast. Happy pre-ordering.
