Monthly NPD data is what fuels fanboys for console arguments in terms of sales numbers. Specific dominance in numbers like these keep the arguments in full-force. I know this for a fact, because I was one of those kids on the playground that argued about the Gamecube's sale numbers. During this console generation, the Wii continues month-after-month to be the best seller in the United States. Until now, that is, gamers.
NPD recently released their sales data for the month of February, and the Xbox 360 trumps the Wii in a rare victory in the U.S. Microsoft's console sold 422,000 units during the month, nearly 25,000 more than the Wii. The 360 has only beat the Wii one other time since the launch of Nintendo's console. The sudden increase in 360 sales might be attributed to the release of titles such as Mass Effect 2 and Bioshock 2. With this week's release of Final Fantasy XIII on the 360, Microsoft may have a chance of winning the month of March.
