Apparently the surprise from this morning forget to mention the analog stick portion The 3DS news just keeps on going, folks. According to a report from Kotaku, Nintendo's soon-to-be-unveiled handheld, the 3DS, will include a 3D camera. Not only that, but the handheld is reported to have two differently-designed screens, a tilt sensor and will be more powerful that the current generation of handhelds. A Chinese blogger claims to have been in possession of 3DS development kits as well. The blogger's sketch also matches Kotaku's best quasi at what the handheld might look like. The possible addition of a 3D camera certainly will open up more gameplay capabilities, but as E3 rolls around the corner, the whole world will know what this device is capable of doing. To celebrate, Sega will be bringing Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventure to Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade for all of us to enjoy once more. These two titles will be the first in a line of Sega-published library of Dreamcast games to be released on the two popular online services. According to Sega, the games will receive a few enhancements such as higher resolution visuals, surround sound, leader boards, and of course, achievements and trophies for everyone to seek. Given the mystery behind what other Dreamcast titles will be released in the future, I will say that these three words will spell doom if it's ever put on PSN or XBLA: Phantasy Star Online. Sega, I hope you're listening.
(Posted by: Harrison Milfeld) It's been a short while since the world has seen a standalone Mortal Kombat game. Now, the wait is over. Hot off the heels of a seven minute long MK: Rebirth movie trailer (one that we're not sure means a new movie is coming out or not), Warner Brothers Interactive has announced Mortal Kombat 9 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 for release in 2011. The major catch: it will be played in 2D. MK creator Ed Boon will oversee the project, which is set to include online play, "tag-team" option that supports up to four players, a deep (and that's saying a lot for a MK title) storyline, and brand new graphics engine. Boon will also be helping with MK's new developer, NeitherRealm Studios. The trailer showcases classic MK characters such as Johnny Cage, Sub-Zero, Reptile, Lui Kang and even overlord Shao Kahn. Many Mac users were excited when the Orange Box was released recently, only to be sorely disappointed when the package didn't contain the fantastically well made Team Fortress 2. Fortunately, everything will be better tomorrow, provided Valve comes through. In celebration of the impending release, we here at Gameshoe are giving you this great Sniper wallpaper that I found on the internet. Enjoy, but try not to get obsessed and lose your job. Valve has announced that Portal 2, the follow-up the popular first-person shooter/puzzler, won't make its intended Holiday 2010 release. The developer and Aperture Sciences explained (in a humorous way, we guess) that the reason behind the delay was because of "safety concerns." That's a good one, Valve, but some gamers are still upset. This news comes near the rampant rumors of a surprise Valve announcement at E3. Valve has stated on many accounts that the surprise will not be Half-Life related. We'll have more on Valve and Portal 2's delay as E3 2010 approaches. One of the more interesting aspects of the interview was Riccitiello mentioning that he has tooled around with Nintendo's new handheld, the 3DS. Here's what Riccitiello had to say: "You’ve got to be very careful here because Nintendo have a lot to say at E3, and I want to be careful to not accidentally transgress an NDA, but I will tell you, I’ve seen it; it’s cool.” Won't be long before the gaming public gets its first look at Nintendo's next leap at handheld gaming. The latest batch of screenshots released by Epic aren't pre-rendered like the last few, so we're finally able to see what new gameplay changes are offered in this anticipated threequel. Although, most are in-engine screenshots, Microsoft and Epic were able to show off some shots of Marcus Fenix controlling a huge turret and burning Locust scum to a crisp. That's what we like to see, folks. Gears of War 3 is currently scheduled for a spring 2011 release.

According to IGN, the 3DS' processor may rival that of current generation consoles such as the 360 and PS3. The popular gaming and technology site reports that developers have already tinkered with the 3DS in its current form. IGN states that the "processor exceeds far past the Nintendo Wii and that it brings it closer to the current HD consoles," but it won't include an NVIDIA chip set. Although, this is all speculation folks, so give the benefit of the doubt. The possibilities of this type of handheld are sketchy, but it's not impossible for a device to pack this much punch during a current generation (i.e. the PSP). Stay tuned during E3 for more on the 3DS |
